The Multi-Anvil Press laboratory houses 2000-ton, 1000-ton, 250-ton, and piston cylinder large volume presses for the investigations of the physics and chemistry of planetary interiors.
We employed the Paris-Edinburgh press and high-brilliance X-ray at the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory to determine the elastic and viscoelastic properties of Fe-Ni-C liquids
Large Volume Press.
The MultiAnvil Laboratory (MAPLab) in the HIG 116 room, housing a 2000-ton MultiAnvil Press and a 1000-ton MultiAnvil Press. Both presses have remote control and data acquisition capability. The presses can reach 25 GPa and 2000 ºC.
